Jocelyn Teece (C’12) is a force to be reckoned with. In her time at Penn, Jocelyn was an avid member of the Wharton Retail Club and Editor-in-Chief, Art Director, and Editor-at-Large of the WALK magazine. She cites her role in the WALK and the broad networking opportunities it afforded as one of the primary reasons she obtained such impressive jobs after her graduation, including an Associate role at the Berkeley Research Group, a management consulting firm, and also Manager of Content & Operations, Wholesale Digital, and E-Commerce at Ralph Lauren. She obtained the job through career services at Penn.
Now, however, she has pivoted into a tech company focused on a “new retail business model”, that of subscription based clothing. She is the current business owner of the “Shop” business at Gwynnie Bee. Gwynnie Bee is a fast growing company that is revolutionizing the retail space through a new subscription rental clothes service for plus sized women’s clothing by applying technology and innovation. The “Shop” sector of Gwynnie Bee sells accessories to complement one’s rental wardrobe. In comparing her job at Ralph Lauren to her current job, Jocelyn claims that “...complete ownership of a business line means I am always learning about a new area of the business field (like accounting); when I was at Ralph Lauren, my focus was more exclusively on marketing.” Jocelyn knew that she wanted a more operational role that spread across various sectors of business, and has worked her way to the top of a fast-growing fashion company.
